Central Vietnam (Hue, Hoi An, Da Nang) is ideal from February to August. Southern Vietnam (Ho Chi Minh City, Mekong Delta) is best from December to April during the dry season. Essential items include: lightweight, breathable clothing; comfortable walking shoes; sun protection (hat, sunscreen, sunglasses); insect repellent; a light rain jacket or umbrella; modest clothing for temple visits (covering shoulders and knees); and a good camera.
